Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council shall serve as a consultative group to the pastor, to assist him in fostering pastoral activities and in providing for the continued growth of parish life.

The areas of focus include:

  • The spiritual formation and growth of the people of the parish
  • The education of adults and youth in the faith
  • The fostering and nurturing of “community” in the parish
  • The evangelization of the non-participative Catholics in the parish and the unchurched
  • Witnessing to the Gospel of social justice in one’s community through service.

The members of the Pastoral Council will:

  • Provide information and make recommendations that reflect the spirit of the parish, in order to advise the pastor concerning decisions affecting the life of the parish community
  • Be responsible with the pastor for the pastoral planning of the parish, including ecumenical activities
  • Review, evaluate, and make recommendations to the pastor and the Parish Finance Council concerning the funding of parish programs
  • Provide the communications, coordination, and cooperation among the parish members, its organizations, and committees
  • Participate in and cooperate with regional and diocesan decisions pertaining to parish life

The Council ideally will be composed of 9 members representing a wide variety of parish membership including young adults and seniors, newly married or single, parents of children in private and public schools, etc. Variety is a blessing because it is what makes up every parish and the universal Church. Meetings will be monthly and members commit to a 1-3 year term.
