“The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed;
it is also the fount from which all her power flows.”
Vatican II:  Constitution on Sacred Liturgy

The Art and Environment collaborate with the pastor and staff on liturgy preparation, the training and formation of the various liturgical ministers, and the formation of the assembly about the sacraments and liturgy. The Art and Environment researches, initiates and coordinates all aspects of our liturgy and develops a community atmosphere that enhances our parishioners spiritual journey.  Members of the committee represent different liturgical ministries.

In addition, Art and Environment is in charge of enhancing the Church for each liturgical season. The goal is to care for all the elements of worship ensuring that the environment is appropriate, authentic, beautiful and accessible. We need people who can sew, build, hang lights on Christmas trees, design florals, water plants and those who can help with the installation and putting away of liturgical seasons. No matter where your talent lies there will always be something you can do to help this ministry.

Planning is done for the various liturgical seasons. There are also discussions and suggestions for special liturgies or opportunities for enrichment, prayer and worship of the parish. The committee can advise the Pastor and assist him carrying out ideas and solving problems that are shared by the committee through feedback from parishioners.

The meetings occur on an average of 4 times a year.

By virtue of baptism, each of us is called to minister to the needs of one another. To make our liturgies truly life-giving celebrations requires the gifts of everyone. Our hope is that you will prayerfully consider  to become a member of this ministry. If you're interested in sharing your talents with Art and Environment, please let us know! For more information, contact our Director of Music and Liturgy at This email address is being protected from spambots. “It is our duty and our joy as shepherds of the Church to guide and oversee liturgical song
in each particular Church.  Liturgy is the source of the Church’s prayer and action,
and the summit by which our lives and all our ministries ascend to the Father.”
- from the Foreword of “Sing to the Lord, Music in Divine Worship”

Corpus Christi Choir
Members of the choir help lead the assembly in prayer through their musical gifts.  The primary role is to add energy to the worship of the entire congregation by embellishing the song with harmonies and choral singing. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 pm. The Choir sings throughout the year at varying weekend Masses.  In addition, the choir provides special music during seasonal celebrations including Christmas and Easter. Please contact Shaun if you are interested.

Handbell Choir
Maybe singing isn’t your “thing.”  Would you still like to contribute to the Music Ministry at Corpus? Sounds like ringing handbells is the thing for you!!!!  We are looking for more members to join our ensemble. Although no prior ringing experience is necessary, good musical skills and an ability to read music is required. The bell choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 pm in the church. Please contact Shaun if you are interested.

Youth Choir
Do you have a child who is interested in singing?  Would they like to help enhance the Liturgy here at Corpus? The Youth Choir sings once a month at weekend liturgies. Any youth currently in 3rd grade or older are invited to attend rehearsals on Thursdays from 3:45-4:45pm during the school year. If your child would be interested in singing once a month, please contact Shaun.

Lend Your Voice
The ministry of the parish cantor is to bring the song of the assembled community to life! Cantors' primary roles are to encourage the congregation to sing and to proclaim the Word of God through the Psalms. Cantors lead prayer at all the liturgies. Cantors must have a pleasant singing voice, sing on pitch, strong but not overpowering, good sense of rhythm and tempo. We are looking for people with a strong presence to relay the word of God through song. I know there are many out there who have been waiting to be asked - so help me out by turning to your neighbor after church and tell them, “You need to see Shaun!” I’m here to help continue to develop the cantor for the Sunday liturgy. We have meetings once a quarter to go over new techniques and music and help each other grow.  We are always looking for more cantors and if you feel you have the gift of cantoring, we’d love to hear from you!

Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists provide musical accompaniment for the cantors and choir at weekend Masses and special celebrations and enhance the overall sound of music during Liturgy. While people of various levels of ability are welcome to share their talents, a certain level of proficiency is necessary. As with accompanists, there is a wide range of possibilities for brass, stringed and wind instrumentalists to be involved in the Corpus Christi Music Ministry.   There will be required rehearsals for instrumentalists around Christmas, the Triduum, and Easter.  If you’re interested in lending your talents to the Music Ministry here at Corpus, contact Shaun for more information.

The Music Ministry is open to all parishioners. If you sing, ring, or play a musical instrument and would like to use your talent for the Lord, please contact the Director of Music at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

One of our most enjoyed hospitality ministries is the after Mass gatherings for coffee & donuts on Sunday mornings. These gatherings in the parish hall are attended by many parishioners and visitors and is a great way to meet and socialize with other members of the parish family in a relaxed atmosphere. Coffee and donuts are served in Fr. Jim Shaughnessy Hall following the 8:30 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. liturgies on the first weekend of the month. Volunteers help set up, serve, and clean-up.

“For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve”. Matthew 20:28

The faithful who are ill are deprived of their rightful and accustomed place in the Eucharistic community. In bringing communion to them the Minister of Communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at the Eucharist.

For the sick the reception of communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members who are ill. The Church strives to provide a heart of service inclined to those who may be unable to provide for themselves, including time with Jesus.

Our Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist to the Sick & Homebound - take Holy Communion to homebound parishioners and those Catholics who are in nursing homes and assisted living facilities within our boundaries who can't make it to our table each week.

The Catechism quotes Pope John Paul II: "The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease." (CCC, 1380)

During Eucharistic Adoration, the faithful pray to Jesus Christ, who is present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist, also referred to as the Blessed Sacrament, is typically kept in a tabernacle at your parish church. While it is true that you can pray to God anywhere and that He is always within you, it is especially powerful to adore Jesus in the Eucharist.

In the presence of the Eucharist, we pray to the power and sacrifice that it represents — the body of Jesus, who gave His life so that we may live. It is His body, blood, soul and divinity that is really, truly, and substantially present in the Eucharist. We adore and receive the Eucharist in communion at Mass, which is the most beautiful act of worship that we have as Catholics.

We have Jesus truly present in all of the tabernacles around the world. We can continue to adore Him in the Eucharist after Mass in a quiet time of prayer and contemplation on Who we have just received. Being in the presence of the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ gives spiritual strength and nourishment in a uniquely powerful way.

Also commonly known as Eucharistic Ministers, parishioners who join this ministry have an opportunity to literally follow Jesus’s command to “feed my sheep.” Eucharistic ministers take on the unique role of assisting the priest in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to fellow parishioners during Mass. The Distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during the Mass is truly a ministry to the People of God. All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the most holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread or wine.

This ministry is open to all confirmed men and women in the parish.

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcome you, for the glory of God.”

Romans 15:7

The greeter serves the community by recognizing and welcoming each member of the community as if that person were Christ. Offering a smile and a word of welcome can have a profound impact on people as they arrive, especially if they are visitors to Corpus Christi. Our worship will only be truly hospitable when everyone who gathers for liturgy reaches out to those around them with the love of Christ.

If you are a person who enjoys meeting people, please consider becoming a greeter. The greeters invite everyone who gathers for Mass to enter the church with the joy of the Lord.  Ministers are trained.  For more information, contact our Director of Music and Liturgy at This email address is being protected from spambots. “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ”

Romans 10:17

The proclamation of the Word of God to the assembled Body of Christ is central to every liturgy.  Lectors lead the community to encounter God through the scriptures.  Lectors, in taking the Word and proclaiming it to the assembly, are, in large measure, responsible for the extent to which the people of God grow in their faith. They are the medium through which the living Word of God is received and absorbed by the faithful. The ministry of the Word is practiced with the highest level of reverence and dignity.  Lectors Prayer
Lord, invest me with your power as I prepare to proclaim the marvel of your message.
I have prepared my reading, I have tried to take within me the meaning of what I am about to proclaim.
Help me to proclaim, not just with my lips, but with my whole heart and soul.
Lord, make me a hollow reed so that your voice will be heard by all who hear me.
Free me of excessive concern over my performance.
Convert my feeling of nervousness and turn all my apprehension into an energy for
proclaiming your word with power and authority.
May your Spirit live in me and fill the holy word that I proclaim. Amen.

The Prayer Chain is a community of parishioners who pray for the concerns and needs of those in Corpus Christi parish. The Prayer Chain was established to respond to the needs of others for our prayers and the need we have to pray for one another.  A coordinator is the recipient of requests for prayer.  Normally the coordinator then E-mails the requests for prayer to all those who have volunteered to pray.  No one should volunteer to offer prayer who does not sincerely intend to pray. Those who offer prayer are to keep those for whom they pray in the strictest confidence. The coordinator will use his/her judgment when asking for prayer for someone so people are not offended by excessive detail.

The term Sacristan comes from the Latin word, sacer, which means sacred. Being a sacristan is a very beneficial way to serve your church community, and an active way to participate in Mass. The starting point for all sacristans is a deep love for the Eucharist.  Under the general direction of the clergy, the sacristan undertakes the overall preparation for liturgical celebrations ensuring that that the precious vessels are prepared for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. For more information, contact our Director of Music and Liturgy at This email address is being protected from spambots. “But all things should be done decently and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:40

Just as the altar is a sign for us of Christ the living stone, altar cloths are used “out of reverence for the celebration of the memorial of the Lord and the banquet that gives us his body and” By their beauty and form they add to the dignity of the altar in much the same way that vestments solemnly ornament the priests and sacred ministers.

St. Veronica Ministry offers parishioners a special, sacred way to serve the Church by laundering and ironing the altar linens and purificators used by the priest and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. The linens used at the altar in the course of the Eucharistic celebration should be treated with the care and respect due to those things used in the preparation and celebration of the sacred mysteries. The laundering and ironing of the linens is done at the homes of the volunteers on a rotating weekly basis.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

1 Peter 4:10

One of the most important things for a parish to do when new people walk in the door is to have someone there to say “hello.” They are entrusted with promoting a sense of welcoming and belonging to all the faithful assembled for worship. Ushers are often the first faces parishioners see when they come to Mass and one of the last they see on their way out the door-in other words, they act almost as ambassadors for the parish. Ushers welcome people to Mass, help them find a seat, take the weekly collection, hand out bulletins as people leave and straighten the hymnals in the pews after the liturgy. If you have a friendly, outgoing personality or just want to get to know more of the people in the pews around you, being an usher is the ideal ministry for you. For more information, contact our Director of Music and Liturgy at This email address is being protected from spambots. Ushers Prayer
Lord in Your love, You gather Your people this day, help me to serve them in a Christ-like manner,
even as Your son Jesus served those who gathered about Him.
Make me prayerful, patient, helpful and understanding,
and may I radiate the joy that faith brings as I serve their needs.
May all who assemble to celebrate our common faith in the Risen Savior be glad of heart for being here
and for having encountered Your son in one another.
I ask this in Jesus’ name.  Amen
