As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.
1 Peter 4:10

One of the most important things for a parish to do when new people walk in the door is to have someone there to say “hello.” They are entrusted with promoting a sense of welcoming and belonging to all the faithful assembled for worship. Ushers are often the first faces parishioners see when they come to Mass and one of the last they see on their way out the door-in other words, they act almost as ambassadors for the parish. Ushers welcome people to Mass, help them find a seat, take the weekly collection, hand out bulletins as people leave and straighten the hymnals in the pews after the liturgy. If you have a friendly, outgoing personality or just want to get to know more of the people in the pews around you, being an usher is the ideal ministry for you.
